After the success of our Community Meal, we have decided to team up with The ALT Group once again to create a wonderful Community Garden, open to everyone.
The ALT Group is a local Community Interest Company, we have decided to allow them to manage the land around our club and turn it into a Community Garden space. The project will take the piece of land to the East of the building, which was purchased over 8 years ago and is currently unused; and transform it into a social space which will also grow food.
The area will also be designed with flowers and trees to encourage bees and butterflies and brighten up the area. All the food grown will be donated to the Community Meal, given away to those in need or sold to local businesses to raise funds for new projects.
Everyone is invited to join in the project as there will be tasks suitable for all levels of skills and experience. The project is about learning together and making friends, while transforming the space.
Activities and updates will be made regularly via The ALT Group Facebook Page
We have teamed up with local community group, The ALT Group to offer a Free of Charge, Community Meal, every Thursday.
Members and the wider community are invited to come together to enjoy an evening meal, which will offer 3 courses and hot tasty food.
The meal is managed and hosted by The ALT Group who collect local food waste (from supermarkets) and kind donations from local businesses and individuals. They use these ingredients to cook up wonderful nutritious meals in our newly upgraded kitchen.
The Community Meal starts at 5:30pm until around 7pm. It is run by volunteers from the local area who come together to offer this relaxed and informal service. It is a wonderful atmosphere with music, room for children to play and great company.
Donations of food and funds are accepted and your feedback is requested.
We would like to say a huge Thank you to everyone who has supported us and donated to our restoration fund over the past couple of years. It's been a long process but Colin Watson from Burnhope is the builder who has taken on our project and he is doing an amazing job.
We started work on 29th June and the progress is quicker than we could have hoped for, we have started ordering fixtures and fittings already and it should all be ready to show off soon.
We can't wait to show you some pictures when it's all finished!... Watch this space.
We are proud to announce Aviva, have accepted our project, with the possibility of raising funds for our heat and eat project.
We are a not for profit organisation opening our doors on a daily basis to provide support and social intercourse to ALL AGE GROUPS in our community. We have been fund raising to update our kitchen and are now waiting for a date to commence the work. However we need to raise additional funds to replace the carpet and safety flooring in the concert room so we have somewhere to serve our meals and hold our social afternoons.
You must register to vote and will need an email address or you can vote through your Facebook account.
